Is it cycling through the different functions on the display? ie. mpg, miles left in tank, avg mpg.....

The 185-180 sounds like the miles till empty screen. Is the button in the wiper stalk stuck?

like Jeffla said, there are ~6 options for output on the display, you control them with the up and down buttons on the end of the windsheild wiper lever ... you can show avg mph, avg mpg, "real time" mpg, real time mph, estimated miles left in tank etc., the avgs can also be reset

And there should be a little switch on the bottom of the right stalk that allows you to reset the avg mpg and avg speed...or to shut off the display if you just push it quickly.
