Newbie here...Driver information display
I'm sure this issue has been addressed several times before, but I could not locate the information. I have a 2000 A6 2.7T and the driver's information screen has almost completely went out. What kind of options are out there for fixing / replacing this item? Does anyone know of a supplier outside of an Audi dealership? Thanks for the help.

Well, unfortunately you cannot replace just the center display...you must replace the entire instrument cluster. As such, you cannot really buy a used one since the odometer is locked andnot programmable. If you buy a "refurbished" one from the dealer, you can program the miles so your odometer is accurate to the car's actual mileage.
The cost is about $700-800 for the enw cluster, minus a core charge of a few hundred for your old cluster (you turn in your old one to get the core charge back), for a net of $400-500. It is a DIY (since you are 2000 you do not ahev to worry about prgramming the immobilizer), but you will need access to someone with a VAG COM to program the correct mileage as soon as it is installed.
Here is a great tech article on how to do this replacement yourself:
