Default no. 4 cylinder misfire and something glowing

I just bought an a6 3.0 quattro with 85,000 yesterday 4\26. I got a check engine light and it started misfiring. Autozone said it was the number 4 but could not be specific about spark or fuel problem. I through in some injection cleaner and drove it home hard at high rpm. When I got home i noticed some smoke so i popped the hood. I believe it was all the engine dressing the dealer put on burning off so not to worried about that but there was something oval glowing red between the engine and the firewall on the drivers side. I am bringing it back tomorrow and hopefully they will fix it for free but can anyone tell me if its major or minor problem until then so I can have some peace of mind? Not sure how often moderaters post. Oh is it ok to drive to the dealer?

It might help if I am more specific. The part that was glowing was circular facing upward and like a small donut and whatever was in the center of the donut was not glowing just the "donut" looking part.

I limped to the dealer and by the time I got there my cat was glowing near the o2 sensor. They replaced the no. 4 coil and said there was no damage to anything else. Since I just bought it there was no charge even though I did not have a warranty. Thanks Laurel Audi of Westmont!!
