Hello all, I am a proud owner of an 200 Audi A6 Quattro and started having electrical problems at start up recently. My blinkers, headlights, Climate control blower, electric door locks and who knows what else won't work sometimes when I first start my car. Drove to work all is well, left in early morning went to turn on headlights NOTHING, parking lights OK, headlights only work if I hold High Beam Flasher on. Any suggestions ? [&o]

 

Ignition Switch is out.
Or something related to it (because one time I said ignition switch and really it was the ground wire to it)

Anything that you cannot get when the car is in ACC mode is not going to work in START either. The switch jams in start when the switch goes. No headlights, no blinkers, no heater, etc. Not to say this is a good idea to drive around on it, but turn the key back just a hair after starting it and everything should come on. Or drive a few blocks over a few bumps.

OR REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. You can get parts for about 30-40 bucks and get um installed for 200 or DIY (I think this is posted once a week because the ignition switch is so crappy).

Oh and next time it happens, turn off all the radio and other noise and roll down the window with the car in park. That unusual humming noise is your starter which is driving itself into the ground. That does cost a lot of money. Good luck.

 

OMG i love you. I was at the dealership and walking around i see this 95' a6 they say its a heap and they cant figure out whats wrong with it. they offer it to me for $800 so i say ill think on it and drive it for the day so i am out looking around and i am thinking hat the only thing that these electrical parts have in common are the ecu or something along that lines. i see this little gem of a forum so i figured i would join up and see what my future car has in store for me ...whe i search for this problem this new car has i see this and it answers all my prayers. I will be buying this car for 800 dollars then (after all the paper work is done and over with ) i will get them to order the new part and watch the mechanics jaw drop. I love the internet. Thank you.
