Default noise coming from my 4.2 a6

i have a 2000 audi a6 4.2l quattro......since the recent snow storms my passenger side wheel started to make noises...i chipped out a whole bunch of ice that was in there but yet it stills does it...ive come to conclusion that it is either a cv axle or the wheel bearing.....DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE

before you go to a mecanic, or try to take it apart, i woul suges going to a car wash waszing all the salt out, and then get something like D-40 oil and spray on moving parts.

Cleaning the salt and grime is a good first step.

BUT DO NOT Spray WD-40 on all the moving parts. If you coat the pads and disks it will certainly mess up your ability to stop.

I'd clean things up - jack up the car and rotate the wheel to see what is making the noise. It could something as simple as the backing plate being bent into the disk.

My 86 A6 had a bad CV boot and the CV joint clicked when making a sharp turn for about 6 months before I had time to replace theaxel. So you probably have a little time.
