OBD-II Code P18625 and 0550 17-10
I have been trying for months to get my A6 back on the road as it is stuck in limp home mode.(LOS)
I saw a thread on here about this code and i have the same codes showing up.
I had removed and replaced the MAF sensor plug and then right away the problem started (it ran ok before that). The thread advised that this was a MAF fault so i hope that i have just damaged a wire?
I can remove the code and the autobox comes out of limp mode (the dash display goes from all red to black with red letters/numbers.)
If i start the engine the gearbox goes into limp mode (LOS) quite quickly as it idles. If i quickly engage gear and drive away i can prevent the LOS situation and drive around but if i pull up and idle it can go back to LOS.
I can clear the codes with OBD-11. I have detached the MAF sensor plug but then cannot get the code to clear for the MAF fault which then shows up so it stays in LOS.
How do i check the wiring for damage?
the main dealer cannot seem to fathom out the fault and they will not listen to my explanation as it is all down to the scanner.
Anyone here know a reason?
Thanks

You need to get a Bentley manual.
I think you have too many numbers in that code.
Scan it with a vag-com or ask Audi what the codes were.
Test the wires continuity first. Visually inspect it for burns.
make sure that the female terminals are pinched closed so you are getting a good connection.
You can't bring that type of problem to Audi you need to find a real mechanic for that. Their arrogance prevents diagnosis. Been there done that to keep it short, They argued with me as well and then stole my Effin spare tire to boot.

Problem solved!!
Having established that a cold start idle was giving me a safe mode situation and i had fluctuating revs i decided to cold start and keep the revs at 2100 for over 2 minutes at start up.
This has cured the fluctuating revs and cured the safe mode issue - after 4 frigging months!!! The engine runs sweetly all day.
Audi were going to sell me a new pump or worse.
Now i just need an expert to tell me why / how? Obviously i have reset the brain somehow but this is not in any manual i have seen.
