Lightbulb Odometer correction

Hi my name is Tony, i have a 2000 audi a6 140k miles, my instrument
cluster picsels went out and i bought a used cluster from a different
audi that had a bit more miles than my car( around 170k miles) to fix
the problem, would http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sop=..._ipg=100&rt=nc programmer work with my car in order to program the correct
amount of miles to my car ? Thank you very much for your time, regards,
Tony.

I say try and find out. I 'kinda' doubt it though... FYI, it is illegal to change your odometer, but live a little!

I would suspect that if it is programmable, it is a dealer only trick. Otherwise there would be a lot more low mileage A6s for sale. It really won't make any difference unless you plan to sell the car soon. The price difference between 140k and 170k for a 12 year old car is negligible, unfortunately.

I doubt very much if that tool will do the job. You're probably better off using a mileage correction company to carry out the work. You'll save more money in the long run by using a company instead of trying out tools.

you should have got this one:
03 AUDI A6 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SPEEDOMETER 4B0920981N | eBay

only 35k miles on the cluster, yahooooooooooooooooooooo, lol, that will more than double the value of your car, lol.

Hmm, it just sucks I just had an inspection with 170k miles. Is there an odometer in the ecu or somewhere else?

I think i read somewhere that the car stores the miles on the cluster and ecu. idk if this thing fixes both the cluster and ecu.

OP why not just have the cluster rebuild? you could have gotten it done for about 100-200/.

I did a lot of research on the audi clusters and related topics, mileage roll back is fairly easy on the up to 2004 models, it is only stored in the cluster itself, newer models also got it in the ecu and bcm at least; also there are plenty of programming tools that help you correct the existing odo readings. I should have the tool in in a couple of days and will gladly report back on how it all went and if it worked.
