Default Offset Question 8" & 245 & ET38

Hi there, (2001 A6 2.7T, 6spd, lowered stock susp, sport pkg)

This weekend I tried putting BF Gforce 245/45/17 on my GT2 Momo wheels.
Rim is 8j, et38 offset.

The front would not clear the tower :-(

I tried with an additional 5mm spacer, would be too close again.

I heard 245 was no problem with the 2001 2.7T A6... I start to doubt.

Now my question is this I am worried putting say a 8mm spacer to clear the tower because that would be ET30 right?
Is the comparaison to stock ET45 still holds, or not since my wheel is 8" wide?

Great fun indeed. Anyone?

Pat

A 245 wheel should fit but if seems your offset won't allow that, but you can run an 8" spacer if you want but i wouldn't recomend modifing it that much, you might run into un-forseen problems like damage to the wheel bearings or stressed control arms ect.

I guess you meant 8mm spacer...
The thing is, I never seen a 8mm hubcentric spacer.
My wheel has a center ring.
Damn. I which I got the 235 instead.

I had 8mm and 15mm spacers before. Call Stephen at GMP performance, tell him Brice Sent you. 704-525-4946, ext 256.
They have 8mm spacers, hubcentric, great quality with the longer bolts.

By the way, I run 245-35 tires on my BBS RS GT ET38.
Tires width vary. Yours run wider and squarer

Stephen and his dad own GMP. They've had cars featured in magazines, imported to the US some of the first body kits for Saabs, Volvos, and VW.
They did some work for one of the Fast and the Furious cars. Stepehn owns the old red APR S4 and is a true car enthusiast, a driving instructor too.
Check their site at www.gmpperformance.com.

I really can't believe you could not fit 245's!
But call him Monday morning.

Thanks Brice!
Maybe because of the special suspension.
It has four balljoints to hold it to the tables, two up and two down.
Maybe this one goes outward a little more.

Best car ever anyway, still puts a big smile in my face everytime :-)

GMP are good people to hang around with then...

Thanks again. I hope I can solve this before next saturday.
