Default Oil Change for 2004 A6 2.7t S-Line

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums. I have a 2004 A6 2.7t S-line and am due for an oil change. One person told me to use Mobil 1 European Car Formula 0W-40. The auto parts guy told me 5W-30. I called 2 dealerships and got 2 answers - one said Castrol Syntac 1040 or Mobil 1 1040 and the other said to use 5W-40.

Can anyone help me clarify? what do you all use?

Thanks...

Audi TSF No. 05-01 states to use oil conforming to Volkswagen Oil Standard VW 502 00, SAE 5w-40, 5w-30 and 0w-40. Mobil 1 fits the bill.

Castrol now makes an oil specifically designed for Eurpean cars (VW, Audi, Benz, and BMW).

It's called Castrol Syntec and i think it is 5w30.

It even says right on the label that it meets specifications for Volkswagon
