Default Oil & Oil Filters

I am wondering what the best oil and filters to use. I have been only able to find Fram oil filters that fit my car, and don't really like them because of the cardboard end caps, etc... Please list reasons as well, not just what you use. Also, how long do you go between oil changes? Thanks so much for your input.

i have heard from two audi mechanics that bosch filters are crap compared to mann.

mann is a higher quality filter. if you cant find mann, wix is another alternative.

Bosch seems to be alright, they are just another filter made by Champion Labs, just like Car & Driver, Deutsch, and Mobil 1. However if you take them apart it seems like they are more flimsy on the inside.

Anybody know anything about K&N oil filters?

beefski, when you change oil do you have to get the filter extreamly tight before it stops leaking? It seems like the Fram filter I am using doesn't seal it very good, I have that thing on so tight too.

you should put some oil on the rubber seal before tightning it up, and fill the filter with oil before installing so there is not a dead spot when starting the engine.

definitly use the mann filters in the future. get a couple of them online so you have them for future changes.

Just make sure they are the correct filters. I would suggest going to the mann website and find the correct oil & air filters, then go out on line looking for them. I think there are more than one size that fit the 2.8 v6. I will look at mine tonight to see which one it is.
