Default Oil Pump

I just bought a 1997 audi A6 with 176K its the 2.8 V6 quattro, and after driving it home last night, it drove great, amd when I woke up today I had a massive oil leak, and i was looking it at it, and it leaks out of the oil pump, just an inch above the oil filter, and its leaks bad, I lose all of my oil if i let it run. So is it the oil pump, or can i just replace just some seals, or do i need to replace the whole oil pump, and is there a write up on how the repace the oil pump, I think that i can probably do it my self

Any help is welcome

That is not the oil pump. It is the oil cooler and there is an o-ring behind it that can be replaced. Audi sells them for about $6.00 but you can get a generic one at your local parts store and save some money.

Do a search on my handle and see what happened to me a few months ago - it will explain everything.
