Default Opinions about 1999 Audi A6 Quattro Wagon?

I'm thinking of buying one with 72,000 miles on it. Are there specific things I should look out for? Anyone out there own one? All opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you searched? There's a lot of info already on this forum. Searching will reveal FAR more useful info for you than you will get to such a broad question.

Good luck in your search.

Actually, I did search and didn't get very much. Maybe I'm not doing it right. I'll try again but if you have an opinion I'd love to hear it. Thanks for taking this time to respond.

Default RE: Opinions about 1999 Audi A6 Quattro Wagon?

I just bought the very same vehicle back in July. This was my first Audi and the quality of the car has made me an Audi enthusist!!! The only thing I would suggest is to make sure the car is up to date on the recalls. There are many and mine had only been serviced for about half. Also, Audi's are a drivers car and as such need to be looked after and serviced more than US or Japanese made vehicles. Make sure the brakes and transmission have been serviced regularly, Audi is particular about this. Be prepared to use only high end fluids including synthetic motor oils (I use only Mobile 1). Make sure you get a car fax for the car. While this will not always show every thing (mine had been in an accident which was not reported on car fax) it should show if the previous owner had the car to the dealer or a certified station for regular serivce. With 72K you should be prepared to have the timing belt changed between 80K and 90K, this is a service point which will allow you to get many, many miles out of the car.
