Default Paddle shifter usage?

Does anyone here user their steering wheel paddle shifters?
Why?
Under what circumstances?
How do YOU use them?
Do you prefer to use the shifter like a manual?
or just let the automatic take control?

I don't drive my Quattro 3.0 alot (this car is mostly used by my wife) but when I do I like to open it up and get the cobwebs out.

I used the paddles and the shifter but, I just don't get a kick ot of using them like I do with a manual transmission. Might as well just let the automatic do its thing.

Thoughts?
