Pothole
So I was going to school this morning and I ran over a pot hole, a big pothole, that destroyed my tire. Long story short I need four new tires, what should I get?
I just have the normal 16 inch on a 2002 a6 fwd.
Something that is reasonbly priced..

Since it destroyed 1 tire can you just get that one fixed? Or do you want to upgrade?
Well as for the best looking rims to fit your low profile oem look would be to get OEM reps. Rs4's are nice as are A6 4.2's or 2.7's BBS's. It all depends on what size you want and what look you're aiming for.

Oooopss... missed the tires only part. I actually like Continental. Not a very popular brand but good stuff. Which tire you get completely depends on what road conditions you usually drive or how fast you go. Since its a fwd I'd get all-season tires. Also try Pirelli although they're a bit pricey.
My preference is Yohahama TRZ's -- Good price, long life, great ride. Slowly putting them on all my vehicles. The A6Q Avantcame with Michelins and I hate them - but I'm too cheep to change until they wear out.
Stay away from the really high milage claim tires. The compunds are hard and they are a bitch to keep balanced, especially late in their life.

Ditto on what NH_USA says- tires age over time (don't we all) and they reach a point where they really aren't usable-they'll get hard as a rock even though there may be plenty of tread left. Besides given all the money you'll probably spend over the life ofthe car, what's a new set of tires or two?
Dont go with Pirelli's (depends which one though) because one of the models they have are really noisy with A6's and they dont have good review when it comes to road and ice, snow handling. Try Conti, BF if you would like something economical. Go with Michelin if you have money to spend.
bent two rims on one pothole, one tire went flat instantly, i switched it out, i was 35 miles away from home with a hissing tire at 2 in the morning. i have a compressor in the trunk i had to keep stopping and pumping it up. made it home, had to get 2 new rims
