Default Power adders

I am looking to add some more hp to my 01 A6 4.2 but not sure the best route to go. Not looking to get crazy, just another 30 hp or so. Chip? Intake? anything special I can do to the exhaust?

Thanks in advance.

Have ya searched? Scroll down a few posts and you'll see that this was discussed just a few days ago (https://www.audiforums.com/m_454067/tm.htm). Bottomline: not a lot you can do.

I did see that post but nothing specific was noted. It mentions replacing the motor toa 2.7 but I am just looking for simple things.

I have not been able to find anyone selling intake or chips for a 4.2 A6. I thought I saw something about removing the center resonatior, but curious if you can buy a replacement straight pipe or just have the shop replace it.

I thought maybe there was a company that supports the great site provided I might be able to get the upgrades from.

GIAC hassoftware thatadds 12-15 hp and 15-18 ft-lbs. A Milltek exhaust can probaly add another 15 hp. You can also speak to the guys at MTM, they have a supercharger for the C6 that adds 115 hp. They may be able to help you with the C5. Good luck.

if i were you, i'd do what i'm going to do. buy the giac ecu chip and tip chip, gives you up to about 18 more hp and drops your shifting time from 1 second to 0.2 seconds without losing smoothness. definitely what i'm gona do as soon as i get the money because the chips are a little salty in price. $595 for the giac ecu, and $500 for the giac tip chip. there's my $0.02.

Audi's are not meant to be 0-60 cars no matter the level of performance tuning. These are road cars, handling, top speed 40-120mph and solid feel that even my A6 w/ 140k miles still has. If you want 0-60 get a "American" big block and I'll see you at the dragstrip w/ my Ford 429. Don't get me wrong, Audi's can be "*****-To-The-Wall" fast off the line, but the abuse you'd be giving the unibody chassis is not worth it.Also the "Tiptronic" transmission units in these cars are a well known weak link at VW/Audi dealers and repeated hardline acceleration without multiple transmission fluid and filter changes over the life of the car will cause a massive, expensive failure of the trans unit.

Also PES tuning is developing a supercharger for the 4.2 V8. Supposed to be released in spring 07.
Est. 450HP.
They already have one for the 2.8 30V (AHA code) and the 3.0 V6.
Also check here for exhaust bits
http://www.supersprintna.com/product...arch_model/183

This stuff is expensive but dang-gum it's some sweet material.

huh...I am 0-60 in 6.4-5 seconds flat with my stock 4.2 @ 300hp and the 2.7 is a tad quicker. The build, suspension, chassis etc is far superior to anything domestic and these drivetrains can handle 6-800 HP without major reconstruction. (I would take this post to the S4 forum and see how far you get) Ever heard of the Rs6 or Rs4, maybe the M5 or M3...4 door sedans that will blow the doors of domestic sedans hands down. The only car (sedan)that I can even think of that would come close to comparing would be a SRT8 from Dodge. Those are good for staight lines and thats it. Are you trying to start a flamers post? BTW- My top end is limited at 142 mph. No doubt your Ford is quick but can you dive into an on-ramp at 85 and shoot out and up to 130 + in less than 1/16 of a mile..Stock S4's can and they are only 250hp, and even though I cant stand rice, I can pick a number of honda civics, supras, 240sx's that will embarass your Ford all day long. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but if ya want a cruiser, buy a Buick.
