Default Quattro puzzle-disappointment!

A Quattro (A8) drives up a steep slippery hill. The all 4 wheels get in spin, the car stops (wheels still spinning) then the engine gets non-responsive, the car is stuck.

Other Quattro –A6 (10 years older) has no problems.

The A6 (’93) feels much more stable, no sliding issues.

Following another A8 proves that the car is not stable on slippery surface- in any turn the rear end slides and corrective measures have to be taken.

It seems like some Quattros are not better than other ordinary cars.

What happens with the collaboration between the quattro, traction control, ESP, EDL, power management?

Is the global stability algorithm effective?

Is the over engineering the cause of A8 failure to perform up to the expectations?

I was going to blame on the tires, but can't. Very odd... To be frank, I don't have any clues why.

Check the parking brakes, as you could have a bad cable or a frozen caliper lever. With the rear on jack stands, each rear wheel should turn freely by hand.
I just had to replace one of the parking brake cables on a 1998 A6 wagon, as the left parking brake would not release.
If not the parking brake, then have the alignment checked.

It seemed that there is too much power on A8 and the car gets spinning wheels very easily. Further tests in deep snow and other slippery conditions proved that the car behaves well with a food off the gas - gentle driving. The issues in the deep snow are the contact with the ground - it is very easy to get the car on hers belly and all 4 wheels spinning. Learning has to be done....
The conditions so far are extremely out of ordinary. (Vancouver, BC).
