Default Rear speakers

What radio are we talking about, Bose or other? Rear speakers have been a problem for years. Typically traced to either the wiring harness where it enters the door or the rear amplifier. The amp is located under the parcel shelf in the sedan and if I remember correctly, under the rear seat in the Avant.

if you don't have the amplifier for the car, and you have installed a new head unit, you won't get the sound out of the speakers, it has to be powered through an amp, i have the same problem, it's only with a non-factory head unit though. I had to wire my rear speakers through an amp.

the amp is usually mounted inside the trunk, it may vary depending on the year of your vehicle, but for mine it would be located in the trunk, on the roof of the trunk, just above the sheet metal. If you have all your factory speakers and head unit still, the speakers may be out or their may be a wiring problem. When i bought my Audi A6, it didn't have a factory amp, nor did it have a cd player in the factory head unit, so i had to buy a new head unit, and that caused my rear speakers to cut out because audi makes everything next to impossible to fit correctly other than factory accesories. However to fix that issue i bought an amp, and wired my head unit to my amp, then from the amp the speakers were wired, rather than wiring the head unit directly to the speakers.
