Hello,

I just purchased a 2000 A6 Quattro 4.2 a few months ago, and it has been all I wanted and more. Unfortunately, I was in a small accident last week, and the only damage seems to be the front bumper...nothings else was damaged, not even the lights, but the front bumper cover will have to be replaced.

I've noticed that 4.2 parts can be hard to find, but I've also noticed that Audi seem to have a whole bunch of models that I've never heard of...does anyone know if any of these models have an interchangeable front bumper with my 2000 4.2? I'd like to widen my search. What about the non-oem market?

Also, I (obviously) do not have collision insurance, so I was wondering if anyone knew how much such a bumper might cost. Is a bumper replacement something that a moderately technically competent layman could do on his own?

Thanks for the reply. This fellow is parting out a 2.7t. It is my understanding that exterior features like a bumper coming off a 2.7t will not fit my 4.2. Have I been misinformed? It would be great if these parts were interchangeable.

I assumed the body parts for the C5 A6 would be interchangable, but not so with engine parts. But you're right to be cautious since it your $$ being spent.
