axles are pretty easy about 1.5 hours per side upper control arms are not that hard either you have to remove the strut to get the last bolt out of the rear control arm, about 1.0 hours per side, you need 17 or 24 mm hex for axle bolt and a quality 12 point to remove the axles, some people have trouble with the pinch bolt on the control arms but if you take your time there not that difficult. rear control arms can be a pain may need big hammer.

I just did some front end work and using a 7 dollar torch saved my life! Any time you find a bolt or a nut that is exposed to the elements spray it with PB blaster, then torch it until the PB starts to smoke, quickly hit it with another spritz of PB and immediately get a breaker bar on it and heave. Made easy work out of every stuck bolt I could find up there. Thats my advice and good luck!!!

Default just my luck

I took everything apart, all the control arms had the whole kfram apart, took the sway bar brackets off so I could drop the frame to get the whole hub assembly because the bearing had to be replaced and the junkyard just gave me a whole assembly......put everything back together then got the axle left, guess what its the wrong friggin axle.....they gave me an 03 passat rear passenger axle lmao it says on the tag go figure my luck right.....also quick question about the hub......I know its supposed to spin somewhat freely in a circle, but if you grab the hub by the side and move it front to back is there supposed to be a little play until the axle locks it into place? Just curious because I have this issue and I'm not sure if the hub and bearing is junk until the axle is put in.......thanks guys
