Default "SAFE" reading on my car stereo

I just changed the battery in my audi a6 98 wgn. Now my car stereo does not work. it ready "SAFE". Kindly advise.
Unfortunately, when i bought the car, it did not come with any car manual or anything related to the car. Hence, no where to go for reference.

Many thanks.

you'll have to call the dealer and have them giving you the code to reset the radio. They'll need proof that you own the car i.e. title, I.D.

Also, make sure to get the manual for the audio as it has the steps required to reset the radio.

The purpose for the "safe" reading is so if someone steals the radio out of your car the thief won't be able to use it.

You'll have to take the vehicle to a dealer get the code. Very few allow you to do it on the phone. Plan on spending a few dollars. I have heard numbers as low as $50 and as high as $125.

this may be true depending on your dealer. Since I bought mine used at the dealer and they had me in their system, they gave me the code over the phone and I wasn't charged anything. Good luck.
