Default Seat covers or seat replacment

I have a 98 A6 and the driver seat is tearing. I want to put a seat cover or find a replacement. Does any one know where to get seat replacements or covers that work well. I have looked online without much success.

Default seat cover

not sure about the 1998 model but one thing to remember some audi seats have built in air bags,if a seat cover is used the air bag can deploy improperly or not as designed causing harm to the passengers.

My case was worse than yours; All the seats and door panels were water damaged. My garage was flooded. I recently bought a set from an eBay seller, and got them shipped to Tanzania! All in all, I would say it was a fair deal. The replacement were from a 2002 A6, mine is a 98 model.

I would say Ebay is your answer.

Look in the yellow pages under auto for a shop that does upholstery or trim. They should be able to remove the OEM cover and repair or replace it. I have the typical tear on my left bolster and they quoted me $120-160 to remove, replace the panel, and re-install. I'm just waiting for the tear to get a little bigger and then I will do it.

But I would say stick to OEM for authenticity's sake.

Look around for a local auto upholstery shop. They re-did the drivers seat in my old 99 A6.....they keep the exact same stitch pattern and it matched perfectly, you could never tell it had been redone and all for $225.

Damn.....you can buy a whole interior in good shape (all seats, all door cards) for $ 250-400 (depending on the model) from Force5Auto...

Thats a good point, I did look and the ones I found werent worth buying. The leather in a used car could tear at anytime compared to brand new leather being installed with a warranty....thats the biggest upside to reupholstry. Im sure you could find somewhere to do it cheaper also.
