Yeah I called a few dealers around town and looked up how to fix it. It turned out to be a five dollar part and the parts manager came out on showed me how to fix the brake light switch. It was about a 30 second job. Thanks for everyone's help.

Good for you kreed.. Lucky you found a nice parts manager to help you with it. I remember back then I had trouble replacing the stop light switch of my car too but it cost me much because I did not know how to install it myself.

Default 2003 Audi A6 brake light switch

I had sluggish acceleration, my cruise control would work sporadically, ABS and traction control lights were on almost constantly. Then my brake lights all went out simultaneously. I thought it might be a fuse and called the local Audi dealer to see if it was an easy fix. He told me it was probably the brake light switch. I got on this forum and found others having very similar problems (specifically rjlavender from a 5/2009 post...thanks rjlavender).

Also found great step-by-step instructions on how to replace the brake light switch here:

http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=1940445

I bought the part at my local Audi dealer for $15.95 and replaced it myself per the instructions above. The hardest part was removing and replacing the panel cover underneath. Approximate time for a non-mechanical guy who knows nothing about cars to replace, 1 hour 15 minutes.
