Little bit more info here bud, what engine do you have? What kind of ticking noise is it, deep, high, ect. Does it do it when its hot, or when its cold? These are things we need to help you.

Haha, thats the N80 valve for the EVAP emmisions system, its supposed to click. If it ever went bad it would throw a fault code. When it stops clicking, then you have to worry.

I have a "ticking" in my 97 2.8, however slight, I wonder if one lifter is lazy after 96k miles and if so, I'll live with it! [&o]There are some who say synthetic oil will solve noisy lifters...I'm running Mobil One, 10-30, and the tick is still there?[&:]

I have had the same problem on my 2.8 with that same sensor, I have knocked it with a screw driver to make it stop clicking, beacuse sometimes it was real loud, i didn't like the loud noise of it
I don't think they are ment to tick real loud

Gee, if that is the extent of the ticking, I thought of valve lifters at first,I didnt considerotherwise, but I'm now only learning this engine as it has come to be full of surprises, including a quart of oil to every 1k,maybe this Audi has become my new challenge and now have tobecome fully alert fora next surprise!
