tie rod assembly
So I go to get my 02 2.7t aligned alst week at NTB, and they come back and tell me that they can't do the alignment because my tie rod assembly is rusted in place and wont move, I am afraid of applying heat to it for fear of messing up the boot. Anyone else had this problem or know about how much a new tie rod assembly would run to replace?thanks in advance

RE: tie rod assembly
Tie rod ends run less that $100 and is a fairly easy job to do yourself. Not sure how tough it would be with rusted parts. If the ball joint itself is in good shape, I would try some lubrication to get things unstuck before completely replacing it. Before you start jacking with it, just take some measurements, count threads etc. That way if you get it unstuck, you can put it back to where it was. Although this isn't that important if you are going to take it right in for an alignment.
