I am about to replace the timing belt of my 84k miles 99 2.8 A6 Q the question that I have is about the tension damper #A5331-119265, do I really have to replace that? I am getting other than the belt itself, the timing belt tensioner #A5030-103145 and the timing belt roller #A5025-84750, also replacing water pump thermostast and engine seals.

 

the damper doesnt need changing on basic servicing, there are no special notes on it

 

However i would replace the idler roller.
