timing belt
I'm not sure you can hear any difference in sound, other than maybe the engine beginning to run very badly because the belt is soworn enough tobeginto jump timing, and you can shut it off immediately before damage, if your lucky........or if your unlucky....the beltjust suddenly breaks, which is probably more likely...hope your not driving a stick andin fast heavy city traffic, because the car is going to want to stop suddenly unless you pop it out of gear quickly because the engine just locked up, [:'(]catastrophically![:@]
It's never happened to me, so I actually don't have first handknowledge, but generally when a belt goes, there is no warning that is why the car mfg's recommend belt changes well before they are too wornto break!
