Thumbs down timing belt kit question

earlier in a thread i had a question on where to order my timing belt kit
i am online and blauparts.com
i am looking at a kit for my 2002 audi a6 3.0
the kit contains
1 timing belt
3 timing belt tensioner / idlers
1 water pump w/ gasket
1 front crank seal
2 valve cover gaskets
4 camshaft sprocket O'ring seals with circlips
6 liters of antifreeze
and a free serpentine belt

thats what the kit contains

i also know i need the
timing belt tensioner Damper
which i added separately to my cart

my question with all of this is when i eamiled my local dealership and asked them what parts i would need for the service and prices they listed 2
rollers and a leveler
is that included in my kit under a different name or do i have to find that separately also

and then since im getting a free serpertine belt which i was going to buy the kit before i saw it was free but do i still need the serpentine belt tensioner/idler which comes in the serpentine belt kit or is that not needed or is it recommended

thanks for the future help and suggestions on kits if theres other kits that cover everything i need

In your BlauParts kit one of the 3 tensioners is actually the Damper. You don't have to order it separately.
http://www.blauparts.com/images/water02.gif
It is the one in the lower center, close to the valve cover gaskets.
The other two are the idler/roller and pulley/roller.
Please disregard this, as I AM MISINFORMED... The Damper looks different. I apologize!
It looks like you still need the damper ordered separately.

DAMPER

TENSIONER ROLLER

As far as the drive belt tensioner, it is recommended to replace it when you change the belt, but if it's still good that's an extra expense you can take care of later - IF you replace the belts by yourself. If you take the car to a shop to have it done with your parts, then you might replace it as well. $ 50-60 bucks more now (whatever it costs) might save you money and a headache later if it goes bad. However, none of the three stores (Blau, ArizAutohaus, Ecstuning) list it...

Sold separately:
- 6L Pentosin (4 bottles x 1.5L) = $ 43.80 (From Blau, they are the cheapest on fluids, I think)
...........................................4 x 13.86 = $ 55.44 (AA)

- Serpentine Belt (the one they throw in "free") = $ 19.95 (Blau)
.................................................. .......... = $ 21.16 (AA)

- Valve Cover Gaskets = 2 x 14.75 = $ 29.50 (AA)
..............................= 2 x 14.90 = $ 29.80 (Blau)

- Water Pump = $ 81.99 (AA)
..................... Blau doesn't sell them separately.....

- Thermostat (not included in your Blau kit) = $ 31.51 (AA)
.................................................. ..........= $ 42.95 (Blau)

- Camshaft Sprocket O-Ring seals = 4 x 0.83 = $ 3.32 (AA)

AAutohaus:
$ 243.98 + 21.16 + 29.50 + 31.51 + 3.32 + 55.44 = $ 384.91
(Without the Water Pump - which is $ 81.99 and Front Crank Seal -that has to be 3-4 bucks)

BlauParts:
$ 398
(Without the Thermostat, which is $ 42.95 bought from them)
I would suggest you replace the T-stat as well.

Go with Blauparts.....definitely, no matter if either you do the job yourself (so they can rent you the tools), or if you take it to a shop.
Then of course you can check the prices from other part stores like ecstuning, mentioned by others.

Good luck.

My 2.8 TB kit came from Blauparts with the T-stat and a free serp. Is it different with the 3.0?

Don't be afraid to call Blauparts' toll free number and discuss all your needs. They were very helpful. Make sure the water pump has a metal, not a plastic, impellor. I had good results with them and my indie shop did the TB at 90k and I now have 127k.

Call blauparts... I don't think the damper is included in the kit. Damper roller, yes, but not the actual damper.

Yes, you're right HX... I'm the one who made a booboo, and I rectified the mistake.
Sorry.
I agree he should definitely go with BlueParts.

It doesn't seem to have the T-stat included. It doesn;t appear in the picture, and it isn't listed in the kit, as well.
Maybe on that year model the T-stat can be accessed much easier, and can be replaced separately as needed.
Someone with a similar car should be able to confirm/infirm that.

That's true -- It gets a bit confusing with the different motors, years, etc. There can be a big difference in what is needed ----
