timing belt question, deflection limit
I have searched several forums and the Bentley and can't find an answer to this question.
I own a 2001 A6 Quattro 2.8 liter 30 valve. Recently did a timing belt job complete with all the stuff on the front of the motor starting at the thermostat.
This work was brought about by a failed tensioner that ate six exhaust valves. Anyway, got it all back together and now two weeks and maybe 500 miles later I have about 3/8" to 1/2" of deflection from a straight edge on the passenger side of the timing belt.
Any ideas as to what's normal? It seems way looser than when I completed the work. I started it up and the belt doesn't appear to be flopping or making any undue noise.
Help please.
