Default 3.0L 2003 Audi A6

Im looking at buying the belt set from Bluparts and they will rent the tools for 45 plus deposit - I figure this is a good deal?

I think the the tensioner needs to be done also? - Do you recommend

Can you send the pics to my email? - for some reason the pictures dont show on this thread trail.

Thanks

Default 2003 3.0L - timing belt

Im about to do a timing belt on my wifes A6 3.0L

These are jsut suggestions:

1. I talked to the customer service at Blauparts - they will sell youa kit for the timing belt - there is a basic and advanced kit - (advanced has tensioner and thermostat)

2. They will rent the tools for 45 bucks (7 day rental) and 500 deposit

3. The kit comes with instructions on how to do the belt, but also how to take the front end apart and slide it back so you have enough room to work in front of the engine

4. This one is a tough one - I just did a 2006 Audi a4 2.0 with 1 cam

I just had mine done. I took it to JA Autowerks. I didnt want to screw it up. They did my tc at the same time. It was money well spent! My a6 is a different animal now! If you have the money let a Audi indy tech do it.They gave me a 24,000 two yr warranty. When you do tb change everything rollers, tensioner, water pump with metal impleller.Replace all that you can while you are in there. That way you do it once!

The blauparts kit is nice but the water pump is junk, the race in the bearing spun 6000 miles after I put it in and the spindle shaft was cocked. I almost lost my heads....Buy a good water pump because it's too critical. I wish they would just offer an upgrade package with a better pump.

Buy your tools on ebay as well, because you will be back in there, I bought the cam locks and pins with the cam adjuster socket for a couple hundred.

Great post about timing belt replacement on 2002 A6 3.0. I saw you uploaded a lot of pics but I can't open them. Is there something I need to do to see the pics?

Thanks.
