Tinted windows questions.........
I found a place in Vancouver BC that will do it for $175.00 CND + taxes.
I am only a hour drive from thier shop. Just need to make sure of the film they use and the warranty.
Is there a certain film that is better than others? I have heard they use a glue where the film covers the dot matrix
With all the pics I've seen(thanks) I think it will look really good.

I have had my 01 Passat GLX 4mition Wagon for $229 and 01 Jetta VR6 for $219 by a local shop here in MN that does it for the local audi and vw dealer. While that cost is more than doing it myself, they guarantee the job and will replace a tint if I accidently tear it or something happens to it. I will be using the same guys (Sun Control of MN) to tint my 01 A6 2.7TQ.
Here are some pictures of the finished product. $265 with Lifetime warranty, anything, I mean anything.
Let me know what you think, good or bad.

Sorry for jumping in on this so late, but this one of my areas of expertise.
What brand of tint did you have installed? And what state is the car registered?
BTW: $250 is not unreasonable for the better brands of tint installed by a trained technician.

Diamond Brillant 30, Washington State.
They did a good job on the install, nice clean edges and so far it's sticking to the dot-matrix.
I waited 4 days before I moved the windows. Not very dark, didn't want that limo look.
The warranty was a good thing too, if the kid scatches it, broken window, starts to lose it adhesive, anything. Free replacement for life and can be transfered once.
I think it was a good deal. It will help with the heat too, if it ever warms up. blocks 99% of UV's

Well... unfortunately 30% is illegal in Washington state. 35% is the legl limit. I don't know how much Washington enforces the tint law though. At 35% "Film" (which is different than the "Net" % that other states use) you may very well pass - unless they use sophisticated meters like they do in several other states.
Good to hear the tint is holding to the DM - that's always a trouble area.
I'll check on Diamond Brilliant (doesn't ring a bell with me) and find out some data on the product.

Well... here's what I found out:
The warranty is well respected in the industry.
One of my sources suggested it was a Sungard product, but I couldn't find it. So, until I track down it's manufacturer, I won't be able to pass on any more info.
Sorry I couldn't be any more help.

Thanks for the info, I think.
Funny, the shop that installed it never mentioned that 30 was illegal. They said I could of done darker in the back but that would of look too strange for me. So is it my problem now? or should they've at least told me and let me make the decision to break the law? I certainly don't want my wife and kid to get pulled over and harassed by the cops just because that shop is willing to do anything to get a sale. They only had 3 shades, lighter than the 30 I got and very dark. I really don't think the lighter one was 35 it seemed lighter. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. Plus I'll check the paperwork to make sure I didn't missed the fine print stuff. Thanks
