Default Tiptronic overuse?

Hello everyone,

I have found that I get better gas mileage on my 2003 A6 3.0L Quattro when I use Tiptronic exclusively when driving in the city. My gas mileage has gone up to 19 mpg from 17 mpg which I used to get when I didn't use Tiptronic.

I have been using Tiptronic now for about 3 weeks. I guess my questions are -
Is there anything called Tiptronic 'overuse' at all? Did Audi design Tiptronic for everyday use or was it designed as just an optional feature not intended to be used full time? Will it cause transmission problems in the future if I contine to use it all the time?

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Tiptronic overuse?

Its not gonna damage the transmission any more than usual, but using the tiptronic switch a lot will probably wear out the shifter ribbon a little faster but thats about all.
