Get my 'new to me' A6 next week! Can't wait to be back into an Audi. Night blue with the tan interior.

Here is my question: which tires to get? It is a 2006 A6 4.2 with the 17" wheels. Wish it had the 18s, but you can't have everything in life.

I don't have a daily commute, but will be using it more for long road trips for my sales position. I live in MN, so half of the year is snow and ice. I want a good performance tire, but (hate to say it) longevity and winter capability is more important.

What would be a good all around tire for me? Thanks!

 

The only all-weather tire:
Nokian WR or WR2

 

All Season tires are No-Season tires. Get season dedicated rubber. Take a look at the Dunlop Wintersport 3D for winter and Continental ExtremeContact DW for summer. It is the best bang for the buck improvement you can make to your car.

Who is suggesting all-seasons here?

No tire is a substitute for the driving skills.

Tire rack does not sell Nokians.

 

Here in Norway the Nokian Hakka R non-spiked winter tyres are a really good choice, but you might have another clima....

225/50-17 works great as winter tyres, and then you can get a set of 18 or 19" for the summer

 

Tire Rack also does not carry the Hankook Winter i*cept evo, which has received pretty good reviews as a winter performance tire.

Continental DWS look to have the best overall rating. As much as I would like a summer and winter set - not a reality. And as far as driving skills, grew up in MN driving a Chevy pickup rear wheel only with a straight stick. Blizzard to me means joy ride.

Thoughts on DWS?

 

They are a fine All Season tire. I am sure that you will enjoy them.
