Took my A6 in for tuneup and.....
Took my 2003 3.0 A6 in for 70k tune up today and technicians found leaking radiator hose ($245), and front left and right CV boots torn ($295 each). Both qualify as normal wear and tear and are not covered under the Audi Assured Warranty I purchased with the car.
Does this sound accurate????

Divide $ 590 by $ 29.58 and see how many more times than what you can find them for they charge you to install the two boot kits.
For $ 180 you can buy two NEW CV Axles (EMPI).
Is your Warranty covering the POWERTRAIN? The CV axles are part of the powertrain and they should be covered. You need to find out what this "Assured" warranty means exactly before spending almost $ 850 on three pieces of ruber and two bolts (IF they even change the axle bolts).

you're very welcome, cg.
I just hate that most dealerships are such jackasses.
I bought two GKN kits from ECSTuning (my old CV axles are GKN) and they were about the same price - $ 15/piece.
As soon as I get the new EMPI axles in, I can replace the boots on the old ones.
I bet two sets of cv axles will last me until I die, or until the car dies... whichever holds better

Tis no wonder then that the Hyundai dealer charged me for new axles when I had the transmission replacement (under warranty - 91,600 miles) back in January.
I still consider charging $ 295 for a boot kit outrageous. The dealer probably has all the tools to make the job easy. I doubt it takes more than an hour labor. Even if they charge $ 125/hr (outrageous, too), "selling" for $ 170 a freaking boot kit that's $ 15 if you buy it on is just jungle-style business.
How the hell can you trust those ********?
