Wow Gigi, 150 , but where were you able to do it, roads around here are way to rough to push much more than 100 let alone 150. The Strech I got to 130 was the smoothest strech of road on I-70, but man was the road bumpy.

i'm curiously waiting for some of the 4.2 guys to chime in and say something. i know i don't have a 2.7t, but i'm also curious how far some of the 4.2 owners have had theirs. i've done 110mph, but that was on BAD tires, so i wasn't willing to push my luck. i might test it a little more when i get some better rubber on her.
ok, this is a little off topic, but with a 4.2 S6,I got to about 276 km/h or 172.5 mph, but I know my speedometer over 100 mph is off by around 5 mph. I reconthe top speed I got to was closer to 160 mph... Throttle didn't respond after that.

What happens if you reach an electronic speed limiter in an Audi?

BTW, how much difference is there in the gear ratios of Manual v Auto?

Most cars I've driven had a higher top speed in Manual, where available, as well as slightly quicker 0-60 mph.

my 4.2 is '03 stock with sport. suspension. 18" michelin pilot sport as. 130 is fastest i have had it. I think it limits at 133. it was handling like a dream and felt in full control. not in the habit of driving like that. got a ticket at 102 abouyt five months ago. got it reduced for being nice to 80. I was in a 55. ticket still 400 bucks. my advise is, slow down.

I got mad on the highway yestrday and went 120. First time I've pushed it. 120 was the norm in my GTO, so I want to go away from that. I try to keep it under 100 but my lead foot has a mind of it's own sometimes. I'm a work in progress.

About 195 for me on the salt flats at Bonneville. I really wanted to hit 200, but hey, not too bad for a sedan.

Waking up from my stupid joke, I really haven't taken my Audi much past 100. Maturity setting in? The accelleration really isn't that stellar. It is almost too smooth.

I had a mustang up to 135 (a little scary), and a Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 up to 145 (begging for more throttle). I think if I got chipped, it would bring my A6 into the same category of fun cars that push you back into the seat.

as far as the fastest I've been, 155 with the GTO...and oddly enough "only" 140 or so after I installed the supercharger. I never pushed it too hard after the supercharger install. Don't know why.

had mine just over 130 maybe 132-133. hit the limit, it doesn't cut out like most cars do just stoped going faster and i know it had more in it. GIAC chip coming we'll see what we can do with that. had a 91 dodge spirit R/T up to at least 125 (speedo only went to 120 but the needle was way past that), 97 cadillac eldorado limited to 130, and a 98 audi A4 1.8t chiped exhaust and a few other things damn near 140 but didn't have enough room to make it.

I don't like to push my Audi. Maybe I'm getting old. Haha! 95 maybe. My '06 M5 cuts out around 155...wish I had the lauch control and no gov. It's capable of 196 mph in 7th gear. I hit 60 just under 4.5, oh!, and thats without the M button depressed; chirpping the tires through 4th gear.

I also had a 1970 Chevy Nova w/ a 383 .040 over,4spd. A real torque monster, Icouldn't find a set of u joints that I couldn't snap. It wasn't a top speed car but, I lay a tire patch for about a block with the front tires dancing off the street.

I'm getting to old for this now! Wow! memories.

I found mine electronically limited at 133 (confirmed by the dealer). It just stopped accelerating in 6th gear at 133. So I backed off the gas and dropped to 5th - same result.

After the GIAC chip, one night I got it to 147-150. Couldn't quite be sure because the needle was jumping between these two marks and I did not take my eyes off the road long. It was close to, but not atredline. I also know that the speedo reads 70 when the car is going 72, so I feel pretty safe claiming at least 150 mph. Next time I fill it with premium gas before the run.

PS - I ran out of road and think it might have gone a little faster. In hindsight, I also think that was the night that I messed up my clutch/flywheel because it started slipping soon after that. I have not tried a speed run since it was replaced. Michigan state police take a dim view of double the speed limit.

PPS - I regularly run it to 120 on my returns from Detroit and it is rock solid. Only my fear of getting a ticket and the way the gas gauge plummets keeps me from running at that speed longer. If I recall that night, it was solid on the road but I was coming up behind traffic and had to slow down quickly. It's a weird feeling braking from 150 to 75.
