Default Transmission oil change report

Replaced the ATF on 2003 A6 2.7 T 80k km /code FAQ.

Drained 4l old/original fluid; not very black as expected, no shavings on the magnets.

Changed the filter and fill in 6l new fluid. Used Castrol Multi-purpose Imports (red in color), compatible with LT71141 (from Walmart). Used Vag-Com to control the temperature.
No issuess.

You use the vag-com to monitor the transmission temperature. That is all you do with vag-com. It seems it is the most accurate way of retrieving a temp reading.

in 15 min engine running: the atf temp changes from 35 to 45 C

The filling (gravity) procedure is paintful. I used 1/2" hose and took me more than 1.5h.
Use the largest diameter tubing you can insert into the filler hole of the pan.
Also use the stiffest you can find, that runs straight, no curls,
the air trapped kills the speed..
The best is to use a large syringe... 1l..

Audi gods expect sacrifices

4 liters...did you get the fluid in the TC? Did you use a pump?

Sounds like you did a simple change. Did you change out the filters?

When I did mine, I went through 12qts. But I filled, ran, drain, fill, ran, drained. To flush all the old stuff out.

It's a little weird that yours was red, mine was black & nasty @ 60kmi!

I used a 2qt pump, that you pour the fluid into, then push it into the trans. Worked like a champ. You can also purchase a garden sprayer, then get 6ft of clear tubing & use that. It will hold 1-3 g of ATF, & you just pump up the unit, & let the pressurized fluid into the pan.

I used gravity to fill the TC, just as Bentley indicates and many folks on VW forums as well. The color of the new fluid is red. Original fluid is always brownish. I changed the filter of course. Will run for a while and drain it again, no filter replacement planned. Have to find a syringe or a pump. The Castrol costs 5 x cheaper.
