Transmission Question
My transmission sometimes jerks i believe when its chaning gears while accelarating or decreasing speeds...when i accelerate from a dead stop i have no problems it goes trough the gears smoothly....this jerking only happens when i let off the gas and then immediately give it gas then it seems to make that jerk and that noise like when u let off a clutch fast on a manual transmission...does this sound like a problem?

RE: Transmission Question
It sounds like your car is gear hunting but is having an issue in the processes. How many miles and what motor do you have?

RE: Transmission Question
Its a 2000 2.7T its got 71k miles on it...

RE: Transmission Question
Could it be an engine or transmission mount? The engine lifts up when you give it gas, it falls when you let off the gas quickly? My 9k again did this as well, not sure if this is what you are describing though. Just a guess though.

RE: Transmission Question
Yes it feels like something dropss and u can hear it...i realized this when i was driving last night btw 50-80mph..if i give it gas and let off it feels like something drops...but it doesnt do it all the time...i dont know the transmission behaves normal to me...from a dead stop if i accelerate normally it goes trough the gears just fine no slipping no sounds nothing what so ever...that is the only thing that i have realized and i hope its not my transmission...should the computer generate a code for me if something is wrong in the transmission???

RE: Transmission Question
I believe im having the same issue with my car 03 quattro a6 3.0 with 64K on it. Was thinking of calling the dealer to get it looked at.

RE: Transmission Question
Your transmission will set a code if there is a problem. There may very well be instances where this does not happen, but I am pretty confident you need some sort of engine or transmission mount. It will not bang around all that much if the mounts are not that bad while just accellerating normally from a stop. They make the most amount of noise when you torque the engine, let off the gas and then torque again. Something like that.

RE: Transmission Question
I have the same exact problem on my 99 A4 w/ 77k on it. I truly feel it's either the trans or engine mount. I think we are experiencing the famous driveline shock people experience when letting off the gas. This is the result of eccessive movement in thedrivetrain (relationship between drivetrain reaction to engine response) that should be absorbed by the mounts. I think the snub mount that most people install should take care of this issue. I will soonbe installing one myself to hopefully fix this same issue.
