Transmission Replacement 2007 A6 Quattro 4.2
Over the past few months I had been experiencing an occasional shudder when accelerating, which was getting progressively worse. It could happen at any speed in any mode, but could be reliably duplicated by accelerating from 35 to 45 mph in 5th gear (manual mode). The car has about 65,000 miles on it.
The dealer diagnosed it as a bad transmission (not the torque converter) which could not be repaired. He quoted me $7000-$8000 for a replacement: $5000 for the transmission and $2000-$3000 to install it. But, without my asking, he took the extra step of talking to Audi and they agreed to supply the tranny for free, even though the car was out of warranty!
Got the car back yesterday and it runs great, with a total bill of $2500.
Just posting as an example of a dealer going the extra mile.
