Default turn signal problem

I've been having a problem with my turn signals. I'll try an put my turn signals on and it'll click once then the light will just stay on. Sometimes theyll work. Seems like it works when the steering wheel is at certain positions. What could cause my turn signals from not working?

thanks
dominic

Sounds like there is a problem with the turn signal stalk.

I had the same problem and then they just stopped working. You need to replace the hazard/emergency lightswitch, only $35. This relay runs the turn signals and the hazards. You would need to remove the rectangle plate that holds the hazard switch (all clips) and pop the switch out from it's side.

^^I thought that too originally, but when he turns the steering wheel it works...thatshouldn't effect the hazard switch.

It is either the hazard realy (which contains the relay for the turn signals AND the hazard signal) or it is the turn signal stalk.

Here are two writeups to help you if you decide to DIY:

Hazard relay replacement: http://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/91515.phtml
Signal stalk replacement: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec162.shtml

For future reference to everyone that reads this post:
90% of all turn signal problems stem from the hazard switch, even if your making a left for right turn.
Now if your getting a buzzing sound from the hazard switch 90% chance its the turn signal stalk shorting out the hazard switch, just from my experience of replacing over 500 or so hazards switches and about 50 turn signal stalks for both of these issues.
