Default Ummm... I can't get it out!

I own a 2002 A6 3.0 Quattro.
Just bought it and I'm trying to clean it and fix the little issues.

Does anyone know how to remove the ashtray unit (not just the dish) from the dash? I can't seem to figure it out.

Cheers,
marc

I could be wrong on this but i think you have to remove the trim around the shifter. I think theres a couple bolts under there that hold the ashtray on.

You have to remove the radio (which requires radio keys), the climate control unit (two 8mm hex bolts), and then you can slide out the ashtray unit. It is held in my a couple of tabs on the top of the housing, hidden by the climate control unit.

You can see pics here (my tiptronic steering wheel install):
Ashtray removal about halfway through this LONG post!

Cool luckily i was wrong. Becuase removing the stuff metioned above is about ten times easier than removing the trim around the shifter.
