Vanishing Antifreeze
So I just replaced the clamps on my T-piece for the antifreeze. Now, it does not leak from there or anywhere that I can see...but somehow I am loosing the antifreeze, especially when parked. I see no stains or anything underneath the car, nor does the oil look milky. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, right below the antifreeze overflow there is a tube that looks like something connected to it, vaccuum line possibly, looks like the other hoses from it are like a black plastic...but it is just open.I will take pictures of it later so I can show. But, if anyone knows what it is, please let me know. |
RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
It would help if we knew what engine you have.
That hose that goes no where is the overflow drain hose. |
RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
Sorry. It is a 2.8.
And it has a O-ring around it that looks like something connected to it. |
RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
Here is a picture of the hose....It connects with the one you see splitting into two.

RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
Replace the coolant tank, I can see the cracks, & the dried coolant.

RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
I think that hose is a crank case breather off the "spider hose" so basically you have a boost leak. It is not a coolant hose.

RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
I see the cracks on the overflow reservior too. I had to replace mine at about 70k.

RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
Well the dried coolant is from me having to put more in everyday...and at 5 in the morning with hardly any sleep you tend to spill some.
Where does it connect to, are there any pictures or anything that I can use to replace it? Also what is that hose called the one that I am missing. Is it bad running without it? |
RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
Anyone? Please?

RE: Vanishing Antifreeze
you need to get that plastic cover off because the problem is most likely under the plenum
