Vibration in steering
Hey everyone, I have a 2003 A6 Quattro and I need some help. It has about 55,000 miles on it and I'm getting some steeringuneveness when driving, it feels as though I'm driving on an uneven surface but theroadis even. Thought it was my tires, but found out that they are good and the balance is perfect. So somebody told me that it could be my rack or my pump in the rack n pinion. Took the car to a place called Firestone and thats what they said the problem could be, they couldn't even fix the problem for me, they told me that I hadwould have totake it to the dealership. In the morning when its cold out and the car is in parkI hear a loud noise when I turn the steering wheel, but when I'm driving for a few minutes and the car tends to warm up the noise goes away kinda, but I still get the uneveness as if the wheel is bent or something. I called up the nearest Audi dealer for an appointment, can anyone help on what the problemcould be. Thanks

RE: Vibration in steering
Could be worn out front end parts such as the ball joints and/or tie rod ends. I have a little bit of the same thing. This seems to be a common "maintenance"item on the A6.
Good luck,
Bob
