Hello, Im new here. Long story short went car shopping and wife fell in love with this car. 05 A6 3.2 with 43,000mi. Anything I should know? Be wary of? Engine seems a little noise, sounds like valve noise to me, but was told this is normal? any info appreciated

 

In short - general rule of thumb:
Never buy a first year model.

 

thanks, that is exactly what i was looking for. How about this, anyone out there have a 05 a6. If so what are your thoughts on it?

 

I have an 05 4.2. It is a great driving car. Many of the electronics have suffered from "gremlins" though they have all been fixed. Even with the gremlins I would certainly buy the car again. According to Consumer Reports the 05 is the most reliable of the C6 models.

 

I purchased a 2005 A6 (3.2L) with 45k about 7-months ago. I now have around 52k and have no issues or complaints. The car drives beautifully, especially in the snow. We've had a brutal winter here in connecticut this year and the AWD is just amazing. I average about 21 mph doing a combination of city and highway driving. I would highly recommend this car.

 

thanks for the replies guys. We did get the car earlier in the week. It is a real nice car. No doubt about that. Still trying to figure everything out as the car did not have any manuals with it. BUt im sure we will figure it out.

 

i can tell you that its not as fast or as nice as a6 4.2.......
