Default what do you guys think

well i found it. a black a6 manual 6 speed between the years of 2002-2004 2.7t. its at a dealer ship with almost 60k miles on it and is a 2002. and it just so happens to be an s-line. i test drove it today runs awsome very smooth. didnt look to be leaking oil or smell like anything, cv boots looked good. body is in great shape. timing belt hasnt been done yet but isnt a huge deal. They are asking 12,798 before paperwork fees and ny taxes. what do you guys think?

The only downside is is that they only wanted to give me 4000 for my baby.... 01 a6 2.7t auto with 118000. so i figured id keep her and sell it on my own for what i owe(6400)

Any insights?

An S-line 6speed manual A6 is pretty rare, so if you want more of a unique car i would go for it. If its at the dealership chances are they had to do some repairs before putting it on the lot. The price isn't bad either.

ya i wouldnt doubt if they had to do some work to it, i asked them if they new any history on it and the guy i was dealing with said no. then asked about where they get most of their cars and they didnt really give us a straight answer, blah blah wholesales blah blah auctions. so who knows, previous owner could be a drug lord. beautiful car though, and in good shape.

I didnt think the s-line came out on the a6 untill 03. Put the car on a lift and open the belly pan. Look up at the turbos to see if any oil is dripping from the valve covers. The loosen the clamps on the lower boost hoses and see how much oil comes out. Should only be a few drips. If its more than a couple tea spoons the turbos are going. Dont push the boost on your way to check either, you dont want to blow the oil through if you are trying to see whats in there. New turbos run about 4500 at the dealer because they have to drop the engine to change them. Otherwise sounds great! FYI there is a guy on ebay selling an 02 A6 4.2 in sweet condition for 9500 in New York on the Island!

Id never buy one of these cars again used unless I had my tech up it on a lift and check everything out. There are a lot of spots that these cars can leak from :P. Not saying this is one of them just saying mine came with awesome cam leaks and fun other small ****. Id say just be careful with buying these cars used.

Sounds like a reasonable price for the year/mileage. If you can, have an independent mechanic who knows Audis go over it. Ask the dealer for the full service history and read it carefully. You have an Audi so you know the drill -- people don't normally trade 6 year old cars unless there is something wrong or they are trying to avoid problems. Push them for a 90 day warranty or better as part of the deal.
