I'm dissatisfied with the light output on our A6 Quattro and want to change the bulbs
to Sylvania/Osram SilverStars. I use these on my motorcycle (CBR1100XX Blackbird)
and find them to be a big improvement. However, I cannot find out from the owner's
manual what bulb type/types are used. The only mention in the manual is that Audi
recommends having a dealer change bulbs. WTF is up with that? It doesn't appear to
me that it would be that difficult; just remove the cover and pop out the bulbs.

So, can anyone on the forum fill me in on bulb types? Looking for Silverstars on various
vendor pages turns up H3, H4 and H7, so they aren't much help.

H7's for high and low beam if i remember correctly....

I have a 2001 A6 with the 2.7T engine, and xenon option. How difficult is replacing the bulbs. I have read enough to assume just the High Beams are H7's, the ones I would be replacing.

 

Actually, it turns out the low beams are H1; the high beams are H7.

 

the low beam i have is h3 on 2000 2.7t a6

 

Interesting. The low beam is definitely an H1 on the 2000 2.8L V6.

 

i just replaced mine 2 days ago...h3->low beam, not sure about high beam....
