Default What Wheel Sensor is This? ABS?

Hi guys!

I'm new to Audi, got an A6 from 1998 with some (hopefully) minor errors. The most important being the yellow ABS light and flashing red brake warning light coming on from time to time. When I changed tired I noticed this

Two broken wires on my front left wheel. (Broken ends circled and arrow pointing at connector)

1. What sensor are the wires connected to?
2. Would this be likely to cause my abs trouble? (Maybe obvious when 1. is answered). I pulled the code and got "01203 Electrical Connection between ABS and Instrument Cluster"
3. No matter 1. and 2. I guess I should solder the wires together. How do I know which wire goes to which? They are both black.

/Thankful for answers

tough to tell but look like pad wear sensor wires .. the abs sensor is down in the hub get down and look under there .. i think the wires run inside the upright and then connect to one of 2 connectors where your arrow is. His is likely your brake light . the other is casued by a dead ABS module. is this the car we advised you not to buy or am I getting mixed up with anoher poster ?

The two wires go down to the brake pad so it's probably the pad wear sensor.

Lets see if I get you right,

The wear sensor wires are broken off which makes the car believe the front left brake pad is worn down and therefore the red warning light is flashing in my instrument cluster.

The yellow abs light is another matter. It is lit because I have a faulty ABS-module.

And no, you have mixed up with someone else. This is my first thread

When the pad wears down the two wires connect and some circuit is shorted. Therefore it doesn't matter which wire I solder to which? It will still be shorted when the pad wears down. I'm just guessing here.

When the pad wears it opens the circuit thats why with the wires unhooked like that you are showing a warning for pad wear. when you buy new pads they come with a new connector that you plug in.

And the yellow abs light is with the communication fault is a sign that your module is bad do a little searching on here they can be rebuilt and you can still drive the car with it removed while being repaired.

A follow up. I shorted the wear sensor connector but both light were still on. Noticed later that the manual actually states that the red light will flash if the abs-light comes on.

Fixed the abs-module with some silver paint accordingly to a manual I found on the net. Both lights are off=)

The follow up took so long because the silver paint took 2.5 weeks to order...
