I am in love with my A6 2003..... no rust.....what year did the galvanizing start?
Are all models built this way....I heard that A8's were aluminum. When did this start?

 

My 1995 seems to be galvanized....no rust whatsoever anywhere underneath

My A6 has a little spot on the roof where the filler strip is. Small spot but I just got the paint in to repair it. It's not that big of a deal. But you don't want to wake up any problems by talking about them.

I read that the hood is aluminum. So I got that going for me which is nice!

My A8 is all aluminum, everything is aluminum pretty cool what they can do with a bazzilion coke cans!

 

96 A6Q is galvanized with rust proofing underneath.

 

iirc, galvanizing started in the 80's.

My '78 5000 was not galvanized but it was VERY light. (~2500lbs)
