Worth the dollars?

Worth the dollars?
I have a 1998 A6 quattro with 59,000 miles on it. With the 60,000 mile maintenance and a few other repairs it will cost between $5,000 and 6,000. Overall, the car is loaded and in very good condition. Is it worth the money to have it serviced and repaired? My mechanic tells me if the transmission is not serviced now it might only make it to 85,000 miles.

RE: Worth the dollars?
It is worth it depending on how much you like the car. Would you like to upgrade? Do you love the car? Anwser those questions and you will be better equipped to make a decision. My .02 cents says sell the car...add 5-6K to that amount and buy a newer model...

I'm with prbayha on this one. 5-6k is a lot to spend on this car. Are you able to do any of the required repairs yourself? That would save you a lot of money. I'm sure the car itself is worth the money, but are you willing to shell it out? What about in 6 months if the fuel pump dies? Your car is not high in miles, but age kills things as well. I think you might be better off putting that money towards a new car, preferably one with a warrenty if maintinence is not done by you.
