Question WTH is this button?

Picked up an '07 Avant last Friday. The manuals were left at the dealership that they transferred the car from. They're *supposed* to get the books (...and the second key ...and the nav dvd) to me later this week. I can't for the life of me figure out wth this button is for and it's bugging me.

I am hoping that it's a wheel position switch for getting in and out of the car.

It's the self-destruction button DO NOT PUSH IT!!!

My car don't have either the button nor the **** behind it... I would guess it's for eletrical adjustment of the steering column? (I have manual adjustment).

If that button is for electronic adjustment of the steering column, then what the one in front of it (with "ergonomic" finger depressions for up-down-left-right, from what I can see in the pic) is for?
I would assume is like an "electronic" lock for the adjuster, which is the one I just mentioned. Probably prevents an occurence where you touch the **** by accident while you drive...

The front button/stick lifts tilts and telescopes it. The adjuster works regardless of whether the button is in our out.

It is something called "Convenient Entry Function"

33. Lever/switch for
adjustable steering column
Mechanical adjustment
Pull lever A down and adjust the position of the steering column as required. Then push the lever back up as far as it will go.
Electrical adjustment:
Press switch B in the appropriate direction to adjust the position of the steering column.
Convenient entry function:
Press button C to switch on the convenient entry function.

Awesome. That's what I wanted it to be. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use it...

edit: That was easy. I left it pressed in and when I opened the door the wheel moved out of my way! Thanks for the info!

lol.

It's also useful for short people who have the wheel scoped all the way out.

keep in mind it's an Audi. Sooner than later it will break and your steering wheel will be in left field somewhere.
