I recently purchased an A8L 2007 from a dealer and they were not able to locate the DVD Navigation disc and stated they will purchase and send one to me.
The disc arrived and I was able to put the DVD Nav in to the reader in the trunk.
The disc is able to be pulled in and I hear it spin up and read but the screen inside the car is still not able to read the new disc.

I am only wondering if a newer DVD was used in the car before I purchased it or possibly the DVD Navi player in the trunk might be bad.

My current software information looks to be:

The DVD that was sent to me is:
USA_0740_2093

Any ideas on what potentially could be wrong? I am also trying to make an appointment at the Audi dealer (not the dealer I purchased from) for an opinion too.

What is the part no. of your navi dvd?
In the format :
4E0060884DB
It should begin 4E.

 

The MMI Navigation System North America DVD appears to have a part number of AND-H0502 Version 5.

In the small print across the bottom of the DVD after the phone number is:
S0023-0070-507

I did not order the DVD...the dealer went ahead and did that.

 

That is a 2005 version - the version corresponds to the last digits of 20XX.

I think you need [and want for better maps] a newer version.

snapdragon - Isn't a newer version required to get to v36 and later on MMI ?

 

I don't know, but when you insert later navi DVDs it does load some software on at first, before it can understand the map, so maybe as OP said, it has used a later version. You could download a 2012/2013 version from gpsunderground webiste's audi section as a test if you like at least you will know whether it is a disc or hardware problem.

 

even if you load an old version disc after you have upgraded to the new, the old disc will start up and reload its software so it will work

more likely a different problem, try a head cleaner if you can find one, or cynically an unscruplious dealer may remove the disc so you dont know theres a problem with the nav drive

 

It appears it was just the DVD. My wife purchased me the newest 2013 DVD from the dealer. We put that one in, the upgrade ran and now I am back up and Navigation is going great!
