A8 4,2TDI wont respond to key!!
Hi guys,
Im new here, and hope that you guys can help me with something!
I just got a Audi A8 4,2TDI Q, 2006 mod.
When i was driving the car a week ago, i got the key symbol on my dashboard. I turned the car off and tryed to turn it back on, but nothing happens...
When i putt the key in the car only the screen for the MMi system comes up, nothing els happens. When i turn the key still nothing. Not even lights on the dashboard.
The dealer told me that it was the "thing" where i put the key in that was damaged so he changed it, programed the car and key's and took away all the fault code's. Still not working.. Well.. it worked for one ride but the econd ride it got the key sumbol again..
It alsow worked when you deleted the fault code's before the repair, but it starts bugging after the 2nd ride.
Does anyone here know what it can be?
I had the car for 5 weeks and can't use it anymore

But is the antena not there only for the remote to open and clos the dors?
I dont have a kayless, so i need to use the key to start the car.
But nothing happens.
Unfortunately this is not going to be a simple fix in my opinion since these are enormously complex vehicles.
If you are decent at DIY I would suggest these to start with:
Audi A8, A8L, S8: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Repair Manual on DVD-ROM *-* Bentley Publishers - Repair Manuals and Automotive Books
Ross-Tech Store
They are a great investment for any Audi owner and will pay for themselves in no time.
My main dealer charges US$235/hr with a 1 hour minimum so any knowledge of problems I have ahead of time reduces that cost.
Because it sounds like an issue with Access/Start Authorization it will likely require a dealer who has access to the tools which communicate with Audi AG.
Which is sounds like the place you took it originally has if they re-coded keys.
You may also want to scan all the other D3 forums for similar problems.

The drenary in my care whas some how plugetr with **** so the water could not come out. it looks like the water went all the way down under my passanger seat and damaged the module under there.. after drying it it work again. So im going to buy that module and change it.
Do you no where i can get this part cheap?
Another good question, what fault codes are you getting? second, here is a link for reprogramming the keys https://www.audiforums.com/forum/aud...t-work-129683/
Excellent news, hopefully nothing was seriously damaged.
Good article on how to clean evaporator drains here: audipages D3 A8 Procedures
What part # are looking for ?
AudiUSAparts is great here, but I think you are in EU somewhere.
ebay.de is another good resource.
Nick that's a great thread on re-synching keys, thanks for posting.
Keep in mind that is only for keys that are already programmed to the vehicle.
Procedures online about programming new keys do not work for 2005 and later and can only be done by an authorized service center.
